IT WAS MORE THAN 3 YEARS ago when we first reported that Jimmy John’s would be vacating their North 3rd Street location and moving south… to another North 3rd Street location. The plan was to put their new store in the building that once housed Border Grill, in the 800 block, just across West Prospect from 3rd Base.
Well, it took longer than expected, but today is the day. Jimmy John’s is open for business! The store will be a complement to their other location in Marquette Township, but according to the guys pictured above… “We’re better!”
Whether you’ve been jonesing for a Jimmy John’s or not, it’s nice to see that building finally occupied. 3rd Street is, and always should be, a great spot for food and drink, as long as you moderate your intake of both, of course.
It’s too bad they couldn’t have been open to take advantage of summer traffic, but better late than never. And as we know, Marquette hums along pretty well in winter too.
Lots of restaurant activity in the area lately with the Burger Bus working on a brick and mortar facility where QC Burger briefly held court. And then we have Panera Bread opening tomorrow and Texas Roadhouse not far behind.
Great timing, huh? All we need as we head into the holidays are more places to eat and drink.
What the heck… enjoy!
