IT’S BEEN IN the works for months now but today it became official: Bill and Pat Digneit, along with Pat’s fiancee, Alyssa Pilot, have bought the Doghouse on Washington Street.
The Digneits, of course, run Double Trouble, and have been looking to buy a bar/restaurant in Marquette. They looked at both the Wild Rover and Coco’s but couldn’t work out a deal.
The Doghouse, they say, is just what they want.
It will remain the Doghouse until the end of October, though they’ll be changing the menu within a couple of weeks, and then they’ll close it down for remodeling. Maybe four weeks.
Then in December they’ll reopen as “Digs.”
The bar itself will be moved during the remodeling, the sports bar theme will be dumped, and the new focus (no surprise with the Digneits) will be on nightly entertainment.
Also a new menu–American fusion. Heading up the kitchen will be Andrew Sear, a talented chef who’s worked at other restaurants around town and is deeply involved with the Partridge Creek Farm in Ishpeming.
Digs will be open 7 days a week, including lunch.
Pat and Alyssa will be running operations at Digs. The bottom line is Double Trouble, which is full of energy and entertainment, now has its foot firmly planted in downtown. That’s good news for Marquette.
