YOU MAY HAVE noticed it the last few days if you’ve been downtown–a new sign in front of a tiny space across from the Commons on Third Street.
“Rotations Deli”.
It’ll be a new takeout restaurant with eclectic offerings. As in…falafels, cudighi, gyros, cilantro pork tacos, philly steak sandwiches, and bacon corn dogs.
“We’ll have some of the staples of the U.P. but we’ll also have some food you won’t find anywhere else,” says Cliff Jacobson, the new owner/chef/counter guy/prep man/janitor at Rotations. “The food is awesome.”
It’ll be basically a one man operation with a little help from family and friends.
Why the name Rotations? Well, he’ll have a vertical rotisserie for pork and lamb, and he’ll also be rotating the foods through the seasons.
You know, so he can make the menu items even more eclectic.
Jacobson’s been working at Stucko’s and Coco’s for the last seven years. Now he’s diving in on his own with recipes that he knows and loves.
Rotations isn’t open yet. That’ll likely happen in mid-May after some carpentry work is finished, and a final inspection is completed.
Hours? 11-6 Monday through Saturday, to start, then adding late nights on Friday and Saturday later on.
And then we’ll all be able to find out what the heck a “bacon corn dog” is.
