WEST WASHINGTON STREET, get ready to welcome some new neighbors.
Outlanders (www.outlanderstogo.com) has bought the building recently vacated by the Panda Garden.
Yep, the little takeout restaurant currently tucked into a little space on the highway in south Marquette will be making the move into much bigger quarters.
They hope to open for business there by May.
It’s a family business that’s been in operation for four years–selling prepared, wholesome, made-from-scratch meals for customers who want good food–not fast food–but may not have the time to put them together.
Anne Klingler, one of the owners, says they had no model for their business when they opened up–“We made it up”–and they’ve had to learn a lot about marketing. But clearly Outlanders, so small and unassuming, has been a success.
And now a new chapter begins on West Washington Street.
They’ll remain primarily a takeout restaurant, but now they’ll have seating, as well, for as many as 60 eat-in diners. They’ll be working out of a much bigger kitchen with full venting so they’ll be able to expand their menu.
They’ll be hiring up to a dozen employees.
Exciting times for Outlanders. And a much needed addition to a growing neighborhood that could use more dining establishments.
